1. What is the Interim Waste Management Action Plan?

The Interim Waste Management Action Plan outlines immediate and long-term measures to address waste management issues for all five (5) Nunatsiavut communities: Nain, Hopedale, Makkovik, Postville, and Rigolet.

2. What are the Concept Plans?

The Concept Plans provide visual and technical illustrations of the recommended infrastructure for each community. Concept Plans will be included in the Final Project Report.

3. What is the purpose of the Operational Plan?

The Operational Plan will complement the Concept Plans with details of the day-to-day actions and procedures needed for improvements to the waste management system. Operations Plans will be included in the Final Project Report.

4. How can community members get involved in the project?

Community members can complete a short survey, available from October 3 to November 15, 2024 to provide feedback through the this engagement portal.

5. Will there be opportunities for local employment through this plan?

Yes, we will prioritize local hiring and training programs as part of the waste management operations and facility construction. The Operations Plan will describe the staffing requirements for recommendations.

6. How are cultural considerations being integrated into the waste management strategies?

We will be listening to Elders and community leaders during the Community Engagement Events to ensure traditional practices and cultural values are respected and integrated into the waste management solutions.

7. How will progress be communicated to the community?

Updates will be provided through this engagement portal. Interim and final documents can be found in the "Documents" tab.
